Chap. 205.—An ACT to authorize and empower the town of Norton, (a) to
convey to Dave Doby and ‘Ada Doby all its right, title and interest in a
certain part of the land included in the old High Knob road, in exchange for
a certain part of their land lecated in said town, and (b), to convey to T. P.
Ford and Annie S. Ford all its right, title and interest in a certain alley
located in block 30, plat No. 1, of said town, in exchange for a certain part
of their land known as lot 30 in block 36 of said town. [H B 310]

Whereas, the town of Norton, in building its street known as Twelfth
street and High Knob road, found it necessary to acquire a parcel of
land from Dave Doby and Ada Doby for the right-of-way for said
street and road, which parcel of land was conveyed by them to the
town by a deed dated February sixteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-
three; and,
Whereas, a part of the old High Knob road adjacent to the prop-
erty of said Dave Doby and Ada Doby has now been abandoned as a
road and is impassable as such, and is not needed since the new High
Knob road has been constructed; and,
Whereas, the town council of the town of Norton and Dave Doby
and Ada Doby have agreed upon a settlement for the conveyance by
them of the land aforesaid by the town giving in exchange therefor the
property set forth in an ordinance of the said town council, passed at
its regular meeting on the first day of February, nineteen hundred and
thirty-four; and, |
Whereas, there is an alley located in the town of Norton dividing
a part of block thirty, plat number one of said town, adjacent to the
property of T. P. Ford and Annie S. Ford, which is now impassable
and can not be used as an alley; and,
Whereas, an agreement has been made between the town council
of the town of Norton and the said T. P. Ford and Annie S. Ford to
exchange said part of said alley for a part of lot number thirty in
block thirty-six, now belonging to the said T. P. Ford, for use as an
alley or street, as set forth in an ordinance of the town council, passed
at the regular meeting on the first day of February, nineteen hundred
and thirty-four; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
town of Norton is hereby authorized and empowered to convey to Dave
Doby and Ada Doby, by deed to be executed by its mayor and the
clerk of the town council, all the right, title and interest of the town
in a certain part of the land included in the old High Knob road, as
fully described in an ordinance passed by the town council on the first
day of February, nineteen hundred and thirty-four, in exchange for a
certain parcel of land conveyed to the town by the said Dave Doby and
Ada Doby by a deed dated February sixteenth, nineteen hundred and
thirty-three, as set forth in said ordinance.
2. The town of Norton is hereby authorized and empowered to
convey to T. P. Ford and Annie S. Ford, by deed to be executed by its
mayor and the clerk of the town council, all the right, title and interest
of the town in a part of the land included in a certain alley dividing
a part of block thirty, plat number one, of said town, as fully described
in an ordinance passed by the town council on the first day of February,
nineteen hundred and thirty-four, said deed to be delivered upon the
said T. P. Ford and Annie S. Ford executing and delivering a deed
conveying to the town a certain part of their lot number thirty, in block
thirty-six of said town, as fully set forth and described in said ordinance.
