Chap. 55.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3098 of the Code of Virginia in
relation to qualifications of civil and police justices. [H B 36]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion thirty hundred and ninety-eight of the Code of Virginia, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 3098. Such civil and police justice at the time of his
election shall have practiced law in this State for at least five years,
shall, during his term of office, reside in the city for which he is
elected or within one mile of the corporate limits of such city, and
shall not, during said term, hold any other office of public trust.
