Chap. 96.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact Section 12 of Chapter 34, of
Code of 1860, in Relation to Certain Debts Due the Virginia Military In-
stitute.
Approved March 4, 1871.
I. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section
twelve of chapter thirty-four, of the Code of Virgiuia, (edition
of 1860), be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
“§ 12. They shall prescribe the terms upon which cadets
may be admitted, their number, the course of their instruction,
the nature of their service, and the duration thereof, which
shall not be less than two nor more than five years. All so
admitted shall make full compensation, except such as are pro-
vided for in the following section. Any money for which any
person is liable to the Virginia military institute, on account of
a cadet, may be recovered, with interest from the time it ought
to have been paid, by warrant, suit, or motion, in the name of
the institute. When the suit or motion is brought by the in-
stitute, it may be in any court of the county or corporation in
which the institute is located, or in which the defendant re-
sides; and, in case of a motion, thirty days’ notice thereof
shall be given.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
