Chap. 93.—JOINT RESOLUTION in Regard to the Claim of the State of
Virginia upon the United States, for Advances, &c., during the War of
1812.
Approved March 4, 1871.
Whereas, the United States, in the adjustment of the claims
of Virginia for advances made and sums loaned during the war
of eighteen hundred and twelve, proceeded upon a principle
erroneous in law, which deprived this state of a large portion
of the sum justly due to her: therefore,
+ Resolved by the general assembly, That the senators and
representatives in congress from this state be requested to
urge the passage by congress of a law providing for the speedy
ascertainment and payment of the balance due the state.
Resolved, That the governor be requested to communicate
a copy of these resolutions to each of the senators and repre-
sentatives in congress from the state of Virginia.
