Chap. 43.—An ACT for the Relief of John Elliott and Others, Sureties of
J. R. Francis, late Sheriff of Montgomery.
Approved January 14, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
John Elliott, Thomas D. Childress, Thomas B. Hall, H. Harri-
son, and Charles IF’. Thompson, sureties of John R. Francis,
late sheriff of Montgomery county, be and they are hereby re-
lieved from the payment of the damages and interest in excess
of six per centum recovered by the commonwealth of Virginia
against the said John KR. Francis and his sureties, in the cir-
cuit court of the city of Richmond, on the eleventh June,
eighteen hundred and sixty-nine: provided, that the said sure-
ties shall be entitled to the said relief only on the payment of
the principal, with six per centum interest thereon, and the
costs of the said judgment.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
