Chap. 294.—An ACT to Authorize the Extension of the Norfolk and Prin-
cess Anne Canal.

Approved March 31, 1871.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the Norfolk and Princess Anne canal company (subject to the
restrictions, rules, and regulations imposed by law in such cases.)
be authorized to extend its works from Lynhaven river to
Rany’s pond, by the way of Long creek, Broad bay, and Link-
horn bay, and in the eastern branch of Lynhaven river to Lon-
don bridge.

2. Be it enacted, That for the purpose above stated, the said
company may borrow money on its bonds or other evidences
of debt, bearing interest not exceeding eight per centum per
annum; which bonds may be secured by a pledge of the in-
come and property of said company.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
