Chap. 270.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact an Act Entitled an Act to In-
corporate the Botetourt Savings Institution of Buchanan, Passed Febru-
ary 23, 1866.

“§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That William D. Couch, Edmond Pendleton, John W. John-
ston, William T. Hardy, Leslie T. Hardy, Henry Felix, Charles
T. Beale, William R. Beale, John T. Anderson, Lewis Linken-
hoker, Richard H. Burks, Jacob A. Haney, Edward B. Peck,
Thomas M. Maelick, Henry C. Snyder, Isaac Burkholder,
George C. Thrasher, Edwin N. Wood, William R. Seymour,
John A. Cross, John B. Allen, Starkie Robinson, John J.
Echols, Montague R. Rogers, Joseph M. Shafer, Thomas
Goode, James A. Johnson, Joel Booze, Thomas D. Houston,
Brown M. Allen, Richard L. Sizer, and John W. Haney, and
such others as shall hereafter be associated with them, be and
they are hereby constituted a body corporate, under the name
and style of The Botetourt Savings Institution at Buchanan,
with all the powers, rights, and privileges, and subject to all
the responsibilities and duties provided with reference to sav-
ings banks, by existing general laws, except as herein other-
wise provided. .
“§ 2, The capital stock of said savings institution shall not
be less than two thousand dollars, nor more than twenty-five
thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of ten dollars each.
“$3, Said savings institution is authorized to guarantee or
insure the payment of bonds, notes, bills, and other pecuniary
obligations, and to charge for such guarantee or insurance such
rate of premium as shall be agreed on. :
“$4. This act shall be in force from its passage, subject to
modification or repeal, at the pleasure of the general assembly.”
