Chap. 265.—An ACT to Authorize the Board of Education to Suspend the
Operation of Section 46 of the Act Approved July 11, 1870, Entitled an
Act to Establish and Maintain a Uniform System of Public Free Schools
for the Present Scholastic Year.

Approved March 30, 1871.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
during the remainder of the present scholastic year, the board
of education be and said board is hereby authorized, in partic-
ular cases at the discretion of the board, to suspend the opera-
tion of so much of section forty-six of the act approved July
eleventh, eighteen hundred and seventy, entitled an act to
establish and maintain a uniform system of public free schools,
as requires any public free school to be continued for five
months in order to be entitled to participate in the funds pro-
vided by the state for public free school purposes.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
