Virginia. [S B 177]
Approved February 28, 1928.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion twenty-one hundred and eighty-one of the Code of Virginia,
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 2181. After the allowance of any claim which is payable
out of the State treasury, under any of the provisions of this chapter
or any act or acts of assembly amendatory of any provisions thereof,
or under the provisions of chapter thirty-three of the acts of nine-
teen hundred and twenty-seven, a warrant shall be issued for the
sum to be paid. A register of all warrants to be so issued shall be
kept by the comptroller, which register and a duplicate register for
the treasurer shall, from time to time, be signed by the comptroller
or by such deputy or deputies as he may designate for that purpose.
The comptroller shall not be required to sign such warrants, but
all checks drawn upon such warrants as shown by such register and
duplicate register, signed by the comptroller, or his deputy shall be
signed by the treasurer, or by such deputy or deputies as he may
designate for that purpose; and such signature may be made by
means of such mechanical or electrical device as the treasurer may
select, after the same shall have been approved by the governor and
the attorney general, such device to be safely kept so that no one
shall have access thereto except the treasurer and such of his depu-
ties as may be authorized to sign warrants as herein provided. All
acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act are hereby repealed.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force on and atter
March first, nineteen hundred and twenty-eight.
