Chap. 53.—An ACT for the protection of foxes, coons, rabbits, squirrels, musk-
rats, opossum, otter and beaver, in the county of Lunenburg, and to provide
punishment for the violation thercof. [H B 98}

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful to hunt, chase, molest, injure, kill, or capture, by
any means, any fox, coon, rabbit, squirrel, muskrat, opossum, otter,
or beaver, in the county of Lunenburg, between the fifteenth day
of March and the fifteenth day of September, of any year, hereafter,
including the fifteenth days of each of said months. Nothing in this
act, however, shall prevent any person, any member of his family,
or employee, from destroying any of the animals herein mentioned,
at any time, when the same, or any of them, are committing de-
predation upon such person's property, or destruction thereto.
2. Any person violating any of the provisions hereof shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall
be punished by a fine of not less than five dollars nor more than fifty
dollars, or by confinement in jail for not more than thirty days, or
both.
3. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act, in so far as
