Chap. 444.-An ACT requiring railroads to establish telegraph stations along
their lines, prescribing powers of the State corporation commission with
reference thereto, and imposing penalties for violations. (H B 202]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That railroad
companies operating in this State shall. for the safe operation of
trains, establish telegraph stations at such points along the lines of
such railroads as shall, after hearing, be designated hy the State cor-
poration commission. Such railroad companies shall not discontinue
anv such telegraph stations now being operated or which mav here-
after be operated. except in such cases as the State corporation com-
mission may, after hearing, direct. Nothing herein shall be construed
as in anv way affecting the laws, rules or regulations governing inter-
state commerce.
Every such railroad failing to establish and maintain such offices
snall, in the discretion of said commission, be fined not less than one
hundred dollars, nor more than one thousand dollars for each offense.
and any such failure for three months shall be deemed a separate ot-
fense.
