Chap. 37.—-An ACT to create a commission to examine records and papers in
the offices of the comptroller, auditor of public accounts, State treasurer, and
the State librarian, and to order the destruction of such as are not necessary
to be kept as perpetual records. [S B 94]

I. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, created a commission, composed of the comp-
troller, auditor of public accounts, State treasurer, and the State
librarian, whose duty shall be to, at such times as may to it seem
expedient, examine such of the records and papers, in the offices
of the comptroller, auditor of public accounts, State treasurer, and
the State librarian, which do not appear, to the said comptroller,
auditor of public accounts, State treasurer, and the State librarian,
necessary to be kept as permanent records; and, to order the
destruction of such records and papers which, in the opinion of the
commission, are not necessary to be kept as permanent records.
But no land nor personal property book shall be destroyed.
2. An emergency existing, therefore, this act shall be in force
from and after the date of its passage.
