Chap. 325.—An ACT to provide for the payment of four hundred and twelve
dollars and fifty cents ($412.50) to Mary A. Sullivan to reimburse her for
funds wrongfully collected from her by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Whereas, on the sixth day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty-
three, Mary A. Sullivan became the purchaser of two certain lots of
land in the city of Norfolk, Virginia, in her own right, and
Whereas, subsequent thereto her husband, J. H. Sullivan, became
the surety for one Paul Whitehurst for his appearance before the
corporation court of the city of Norfolk, Virginia, and
Whereas, the said Paul Whitehurst did fail to make his appearance
in accordance with his recognizance and that the said bond was for-
feited by the. judge of the said corporation court of the city of Nor-
folk, Virginia, and
Whereas, on the eighth day of May, nineteen hundred and twenty-
six, the said Mary A. Sullivan sold the said property, and
Whereas, the Commonwealth wrongfully collected from her the
sum of four hundred and twelve dollars and fifty cents ($412.50) to
satisfy the said lien against the property of the said J. J. Sullivan, and
Whereas, there is no way for the said Mary A. Sullivan to recover
the said money, wrongfully collected by the Commonwealth of Vir-
ginia, except through an appeal to the law-nuking body of this State
to give redress, now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the comp-
troller be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to issue his war-
rant on the treasurer of Virginia in favor of Mary A. Sullivan for
the sum of four hundred and twelve dollars and fifty cents to reimburse
the said Mary A. Sullivan for the amount unlawfully collected and
paid. The said sum is. hereby appropriated for the said purpose out
of any monies in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
