Chap. 285.—An ACT to authorize the town council of the town of Gate City, in
the county of Scott, to grant permission for the establishment of a cemetery
within said town. [H B 263]

Whereas Gate City is a small town of less than one thousand in-
habitants, and has recently extended its boundaries taking in much
territory adjacent thereto; and
Whereas prior to the extension of such boundaries certain land had
been purchased for the establishment of a cemetery, and such land
is now within the corporate limits of said town; and,
Whereas the present cemetery in said town has no further space
for graves; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the coun-
cil of the town of Gate City, in Scott county, Virginia, be, and it 1s
hereby authorized and empowered to grant to such person or persons
as it may deem proper, permission for the establishment and mainte-
nance of a cemetery in said town, upon such terms and conditions as
the council may prescribe not in conflict with general law, but no
grave shall be located in such cemctery within three hundred feet of
any residence.
