Chap. 244.—An ACT to provide for a commission to confer with representatives
of the District of Columbia and Maryland for the purpose of providing
uniformity in laws relating to motor vehicle tax and traffic regulations.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, authorized to be appointed a commission, to be
composed of three members, two of whom shall be appointed, from
the membership of the house of delegates, by the speaker of the
house of delegates, and one from the membership of the senate, by
the president of the senate, the duties of which said commission
shall be to confer with any commission, or commissions, appointed
by or authorized by the United States congress, or by any proper
governing authority of the District of Columbia, or/and any com-
mittee which may be appointed by the State of Maryland, or its
governor, with a view of so regulating motor vehicle licensing and
traffic, and tax on motor vehicle fuel so that the same may be, as
nearly as possible, made to apply uniformly in the State of Mary-
land, the District of Columbia, and the State of Virginia, or between
any two of the municipalities herein mentioned.
The said commission shall meet, and organize, as soon after the
end of the present session of this general assembly as is practicable,
electing one of their members as chairman, and one as secretary.
Said commission shall confer with the governor and obtain all in-
formation possible from him, and from any available source, that.
in the opinion of the said commission will help to make uniform
the license, trafic and motor vehicle oil laws in the municipalities
aforesaid.
There is hereby appropriated out of the State treasury the sum
of three hundred dollars to defray any expenses that may be in-
curred by the commission, in and about its inquiries made here-
under, to be paid out upon warrants, issued as provided by law,
upon the order of the chairman, countersigned by the secretary.

The members of the commission shall receive no compensation
for their services, but may be paid their actual necessary travelling
expenses and hotel bills. The expenses of any clerical assistance

A report of the said commission shall be filed with the governor
not later than the first day of September, nineteen hundred and
twenty-nine, of their inquiry and findings, and by the governor,
with such recommendation as to him may seem proper, transmitted
to the next regular session of the general assembly.
