Chap. 23.—An ACT ‘to amend and re-enact section 1051 of the Code of Virginia,
relating to the appointments of committees of residents. [H B 13]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section ten hundred and fifty-one of the Code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1051. If a person residing in this State, not so found, be
suspected of being insane, the circuit court of the county or cor-
poration or circuit court of the city of which such person is an in-
habitant, shall, on the application of any party interested, proceed
to examine into the state of mind of such person, and upon being
satisfied that such person is insane, such court shall appoint one or
two persons as committee for such person.
And all appointments made by the circuit courts of the cities
between January thirteenth, nineteen hundred and twenty and the
date this act becomes effective, both inclusive, are hereby declared
to be valid and of full force and effect.
2. An emergency existing therefor, this act shall be in force
from the date of its passage.
