Chap. 221.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Hanover county
to set up in a special fund the proceeds derived from the sale of property
formerly used for the general reception of the poor of said county, and to
invest the same, and use the income therefrom, or so much thereof as may
be necessary, for the care and maintenance of the poor of said "SB 2 7

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Hanover county be, and it is hereby au-
thorized to set up, in a special fund, the proceeds derived from the
sale of the property formerly used for the general reception of
the poor of said county, the same to be invested by the board
under the direction of the circuit court of the county, the income
derived therefrom, after payment of the expense of collecting the
same, to be used in the care and maintenance of the poor of said
county, or so much thereof as may be necessary to be so used,
and any balance from such income to be added to the principal
sum.
In the event it should be determined at any future time that
the fund so set aside and invested should be used for the estab-
lishment of, or as a contribution for the establishment, with an-
other county or counties, or city, of a home for the poor, as pro-
vided by chapter seventy-six of the acts of the general assembly
of nineteen hundred and twenty-seven, or acts amendatory
thereof, then it may be so used.
The treasurer of Hanover county shall be the custodian of such
fund and of the securities evidencing the same, and shall be al-
lowed not to exceed one per centum of the income therefrom, for
his compensation. He shall receive no other or additional com-
pensation for receiving or caring for said fund or the securities
evidencing the same.
