Chap. 219.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact Section 9 of an Act Entitled
an Act to Establish and Maintain a Uniform System of Public Free
Schools, Approved July 11, 1870.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section nine
of an act entitled an act to establish and maintain a uniform
system of public free schools, approved July eleventh, eighteon
hundred and seventy, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows: 7
“§9. The salary of the superintendent of public instruction,
after the present year, ending March the fifteenth, eighteen
hundred and seventy-one, shall be two thousand dollars, paya-
ble in monthly instalments. He shall also be allowed his ne-
cessary traveling expenses whilst engaged in the duties of his
office, to be approved by the board of education, not to exceed
in the aggregate, five hundred dollars in any one year.”
2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
