Chap. 149.—Atu ACT to Establish a Free Ferry over North River at the
Town of Lexington.
Approved March 18, 1871.
1 Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the county court of Rockbridge be and the said court is hereby
authorized to establish a public free ferry across the North
river in the county of Rockbridge, at Lexington, Virginia,
under such regulations as the court may adopt.
2. Be it further enacted, That the board of supervisors of
the county of Rockbridge shall, at its next annual meeting in
December, make a levy to meet the liability of the said county
for said ferry. .
3. This act shall be in force from and after its passage, and
shall remain in force until the bridge over the North river, at
Jordon’s pond, is rebuilt.
