Chap. 13.—An ACT to Authorize Lorenzo D. Lorentz to Construct a Tram-
way in the County of Montgomery.
Approved December 22, 1870.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Lorenzo D.
Lorentz be and he is hereby authorized to construct a tram-
way in the county of Montgomery, from Big Spring depot, on
the Virginia and Tennessee railroad, along and on one side of
the public highway, to the lands of Samuel Barnette, near the
foot of Poor mountain, in said county, a distance of not ex-
ceeding three miles.
2. The said tram-way shall not occupy in width more than
seven feet of said highway, nor shall it obstruct or impede
travel on the same. If at any point on said highway the same
should not be sufficiently wide after the construction thereon
of said tram-way, to accommodate the ordinary travel, then
the said Lorenzo D. Lorentz, before he has authority to con-
struct the said tram-way, shall cause, at his own expense, said
highway to be widened sufficient to accommodate such travel.
8. The privilege hereby granted shall continue five years
from January first, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, and at
the expiration of that time, the said Lorentz shall remove from
said highway all the material used in the construction of the
said tram-way.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
