Chap. 8.—An ACT to authorize the council of the town of Blackstone, Virginia,
propriate money to buy, build, rent and maintain armories for such
ry companies as may have their company stations and _ existence
town of Blackstone, Virginia. [S B 44]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the town of Blackstone, Virginia, be and it is hereby author-
ized and empowered to purchase, build, rent or otherwise acquire
an armory for the use of such military company or companies as
may now or hereafter have their company stations and existence in
the town of Blackstone, Virginia, as may be authorized by the council
of said town. And the said council, in the case of the purchase or
acquisition of such building for such armory shall have the power and
authority at any time to stop and discontinue such use of said armory
by the military company or companies, and to sell or otherwise dis-
pose of or make other use of the same whenever it may desire. The
said council is also hereby authorized and empowered to appropriate
out of the general levy from year to year such sums as it may deem
proper to pay for the rental, purchase or building of such armory.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
