Chap. 378.—An ACT to prohibit the justice of the peace, trial justices and police
justices, or any other court, assessing any fee for the benefit of the in-
spectors of the division of motor vehicles, in cases growing out of the
violation of the laws of this State, and to prohibit any stich inspector from
receiving any such fee. [H B 357]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That no jus-
tice of the peace, trial justice or police justice, or other court, in this
State, shall in any case, in which a fine is assessed for the violation of
any law of this State, or any sub-division thereof, assess, as a part
of the cost of such case, any fee for arrest, or as a witness, for the
benefit of any inspector of the division of motor vehicles of this State;
nor shall any such inspector receive any such fee.
2. Any violation of the provisions hereof by any such inspector
shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not
more than one hundred dollars; and in addition thereto the director
‘of the division of motor vehicles, may, in his discretion, remove such
inspector, for receiving such fee.
3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from anc
after its passage.
