Chap. 326.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act to provide
that members and employees and agents of the State highway commission,
the director of the division of motor vehicles, and the employees of the
director of motor vehicles may use toll roads and toll bridges without pay-
ment of toll, approved March 14, 1918. [H B 131]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act to provide that members and employees and agents of
the State highway commission may use toll roads and toll bridges with-
out payment of to!l, approved March fourteenth, nineteen hundred and
eighteen, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1. That the State highway commissioner, the director of
the division of motor vehicles and the employees of the director of
motor vehicles, members of the State highway commission, and al
officers, agents and employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia, de.
partment of highways, having and exhibiting the certificate of the State
highway commissioner, as hereinafter mentioned, may use all toll roads.
toll bridges and toll ferries in this State without the payment of toll.
The possession by any person of a certificate of the State highway
commissioner or the director of the division of motor vehicles to the
effect that such person is the State highway commissioner, the director
of the division of motor vehicles, a member of the State highway com-
mission, or an officer, agent, or employee of the Commonwealth of Vir-
ginia, department of highways or department of motor vehicles, shall
be conclusive evidence that such person is entitled to use such road,
bridge or ferry without the payment of toll.
Any toll gate keeper who shall refuse to permit such State highway
commissioner, director of the division of motor vehicles, member of
the State highway commission, or officer, agent, or employee of the
Commonwealth of Virginia, department of highways or department of
motor vehicles, to pass through such toll gate or over such toll road,
bridge or ferry, upon presentation of such certificate, shall be guilty of
a misdemeanor and punished by a fine of not more than fifty ($50.00)
dollars, and not less than two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50). Any
person other than the State highway commissioner, the director of the
division of motor vehicles, a member of the State highway commis-
sion, or officer, agent, or employee of the Commonwealth of Vir-
ginia, department of highways, who shall exhibit any such certificate
for the purpose of using any toll road, bridge or ferry, shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and punished accordingly.
