Chap. 29.——An ACT giving authority to city councils to make appropriations
for the care of dependent children. [H B 16]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
councils or other governing bodies of the several cities of this Com-
monwealth, are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to appropriate
such sums to incorporated charitable organizations licensed by the State
department of public welfare, under the provisions of section nineteen
hundred and thirty-five-a of the Code of Virginia, payable out of the
respective city treasuries, as to them may seem proper for the main-
tenance and care of such dependent children as the charitable organi-
zations may receive from the respective cities.
