Chap. 192.—An ACT authorizing the Standard Dredging Company to construct
a bulkhead west of Craney Island, in the county of Norfolk, Virginia, and
to deposit excavated material behind said bulkhead. [HL B 383]

Whereas the Standard Dredging Company, by virtue of a contract
with the United States of America, is widening Norfolk harbor channel
between Hampton Roads and the junction of the southern and eastern
branches of the Elizabeth river and may wish to construct the bulkhead
hereinafter described and deposit excavated material behind it;
1. Be it enacted that the said Standard Dredging Company is
hereby given the right to construct bulkheads located in the county of
Norfolk, Virginia, as hereinafter described and to fill in behind said
bulkheads, :
(1) Beginning at the northwestern corner of Craney Island, at
the end of the present bulkhead, and running thence, as an extension of
said bulkhead, in a westerly direction, four thousand (4,000) feet,
more or less; thence, in southerly direction, nine hundred (900) feet
more or less to the high land.
(2) Across a small creek or estuary making up to the northward
from Craney Island creek.
Provided, however, that the consent of the owner or owners of the
adjacent high land and of any oyster beds in front of said land shall
first be obtained, and also the approval of the Norfolk county com-
mission of roads and bridges.
