Chap. 127.——An ACT to permit the board of visitors of the College of William
and Mary to dispose of certain parcels of land. [H B 262]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of visitors of the College of William and Mary be, and it 1s
hereby, authorized and empowered, with the approval of the governor,
to sell and make conveyance of certain parcels of land from the tracts
known as “Strawberry Plains’ and “Mill Neck” farms, which lands
have been recently acquired by the said board of visitors, with the
definite understanding that no portions of the “Strawberry Plains”
or “Mill Neck” farms, which are immediately contiguous to the pond
or lake known as Jones’ mill pond shall be sold, but only those portions
which lie furthest away from the college property, it being the purpose
of this act to permit the college to dispose of such surplus land as may
not be needed for the protection of the said pond or lake.
2 That the said board of visitors of the College of William and
Mary are also hereby authorized and empowered, subject to the ap-
proval of the governor, to dispose of a part of the tract of dand lying
on the Richmond road to the extreme west of the college property,
the number of acres not to exceed in the aggregate twenty acres, in-
cluding the ten acres which has already been disposed of under chapter
four hundred and one, acts of the assembly, approved March twenty-
fourth, nineteen hundred and twenty-six, it being a portion of the
property known as the Bright farm.
3 ‘That the said board of visitors of the College of William and
Mary is, further, hereby authorized, subject to the approval of the
governor, to sell or otherwise dispose of, a tract of land lying on the
south side of Prince George street, between Boundary and Cromwell
streets or, with the approval of the governor, to exchange said prop-
erty for other property in Williamsburg, if this plan should prove
more feasible than a direct sale; and the said board of visitors is, also
hereby authorized and empowered, subject to the approval of the gov-
ernor, to sell or otherwise dispose of, a lot or parcel of land, lying
on Prince George street, in the city of Williamsburg, known, sometimes,
as the Geiger property or to exchange the same for other property
in the said city, whichever, in the discretion of the said board of
visitors, with the approval of the governor, may be most feasible.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
