Chap. 114.—An ACT to appropriate $60,000.00 annually, payable out of the
State highway maintenance and construction fund, to enable the director
of the division of motor vehicles to employ twenty-two additional inspectors,
to aid in the enforcement of the laws relating to motor vehicles. [H B 215]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, appropriated to the division of motor vehicles, pay-
able out of the State highway maintenance and construction fund, the
sum of sixty thousand dollars, annually, in addition to the current
appropriation for that division, or such funds thereof as may be nec-
essary to enable the director of the division of motor vehicles, who
1s hereby authorized to do so, to employ as many as,twenty-two addi-
tional inspectors, to be used for the better enforcement of the laws
relating to motor vehicles, and to pay their salaries and expenses out
of the appropriation hereby made; provided that no man shall be
employed as an inspector, who is, at the time of such employment,
over the age of thirty-five years, and who is not at that time able
to pass such physical and mental examination as may be required by
the director of the division of motor vehicles, provided the age limit
shall not apply to inspectors now in the employ of the director of the
division of motor vehicles, but shall apply to all inspectors employed
after the passage of this act.
2. The director of the division of motor vehicles shall, whenever
practicable, employ veterans of the World War in filling the positions
herein provided for.
