Chap. 72.—An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the town
of Norton, in Wise county, approved February 15, 1894, as heretofore
amended, by the addition thereto of a new section, to be numbered 3-a, in
relation to the salary of the mayor of the said town. {fH B 198]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an
act entitled an act to incorporate the town of Norton, in Wise county,
approved February fifteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, as
heretofore amended, be, and the same is hereby, amended by the
addition thereto of a new section to be numbered section three-a, the
said new section being as follows:
Section 3-a. The council of said town may direct the payment
to the mayor of said town of a salary not exceeding twenty-one hun-
dred dollars per annum, payable as the council may direct; and the
mayor shall not receive any compensation for his services in trying
violations of the town ordinances or for other services rendered the
town, except the salary fixed by the council, and all fees for such ser-
vices rendered by him shall be paid into the treasury of the town.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
