Chap. 414.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of the county of
Northampton to levy, for local school purposes, a county or district tax, in
addition to the maximum now authorized by general law, on all property in
said county or in any magisterial and school district thereof subject to
taxation for local school purposes by said board of supervisors. [H B 479]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of the county of Northampton be, and is hereby,
authorized, on motion of any member of the board of supervisors of
said county, annually to levy in said county, or in any magisterial
and school district in said county, in addition to the maximum school
levies now authorized by general law for local school purposes, a tax
of not exceeding seventy-five cents on every one hundred dollars of
the assessed value of all property in said county, or any magisterial
and school district thereof, subject to county and district taxation
for school purposes. The revenue derived from such additional levy
shall be expended for the benefit of the schools of the county, should
such additional levy be a county levy, and for the benefit of the
schools of the district in which such levy is made, should such addi-
tional levy be a district levy.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
