Chap. 373.—An ACT to validate, approve, and confirm the expenditure of the
sum of one thousand seven hundred and eighty dollars and fifty-one cents
($1,780.51), by the board of supervisors of Fairfax county, Virginia, being
part of the proceeds of the sale of bonds for road improvement in Dranes-
ville magisterial district, in said county, said bonds having been issued to
complete the road through the town of Herndon, in said district, known as
“Elden street,” said amount being surplus in the hands of the said board of
supervisors, by reason of the fact that the bid and contract awarded for the
construction of said road was less than the total amount contemplated in said
bond issue for said purpose, by the sum of one thousand seven hundred and
eighty dollars and fifty-one cents ($1,780.51). fH B 452]

Whereas, bonds were issued by the county of Fairfax, for Dranes-
ville magisterial district, of said county,’ for the purpose of improving
a road through the town of Herndon, in said district, known as
‘Elden street’’; and
Whereas, the said road was specified to be of the width of fourteen

eet; an

Whereas, upon the bid made and contract awarded for the con-
struction of the said road there was left in hand the sum of two thous-
and, nine hundred and eighty dollars and fifty-one cents ($2,980.51);
an

Whereas, it became essential and necessary in the construction of
the said road to increase the width thereof in certain places to promote
public safety and the said board of supervisors, pursuant to written
request of a majority of qualified voters in said district, and by and
with the approval of and under the direction and supervision of the
State highway commissioner, expended the said sum of one thousand
seven hundred and eighty dollars and fifty-one cents ($1,780.51), for
the purpose of so widening the said road; and

Whereas, it is desired that the action of the said board of super-
visors in respect to the matter be ratified and approved by act of the
general assembly of Virginia; now, therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
action of the board of supervisors of Fairfax county, Virginia, in ex-
pending the said sum of one thousand seven hundred and eighty
dollars and fifty-one cents ($1,780.51), above mentioned in widening
the aforesaid road, be, and the same is hereby validated, ratified,
approved and confirmed.
