Chap. 270.—JOINT RESOLUTION proposing an amendment to section 152 of
the Constitution of Virginia. [Ss J] R 9]
Signed March 23, 1926.
Resolved, by the senate, the house of delegates concurring (a
majority of the members elected to each house agreeing), that the
following amendment to the Constitution of Virginia, be and the same
is hereby, proposed and referred to the general assembly at its first
regular session held after the next general election of members of the
house of delegates, for its concurrence, in conformity with the pro-
visions of section one hundred and ninety-six of the said Constitution,
namely:
Strike out from the Constitution of Virginia, section one hundred
and fifty-two, which is in the following words:
Section 152. There shall be a commissioner of State hospitals for
the insane, who shall be appointed by the governor, subject to con-
firmation by the senate, for a term of four years. He shall be ex-
officio chairman of the general and of each of the special boards of
directors, and shall be responsible for the proper disbursement of all
moneys appropriated or received from any source for the maintenance
of such hospitals; he shall cause to be established and maintained at
all of the hospitals a uniform system of keeping the records and the
accounts of money received and disbursed and of making the reports
thereof. He shall perform such other duties and shall execute such
bond and receive such salary as may be prescribed by law.
And insert in lieu thereof the following:
Section 152. The office of commissioner of State hospitals for the
insane is hereby abolished.
