Chap. 246.—An ACT to authorize the State board of health to sell and convey
a certain house and lot situated in the town of Smithfield, on behalf of
Catawba Sanatorium; and to reinvest the proceeds from such sale.

Whereas, Miss Nannie Thomas devised to Catawba Sanatorium,
Catawba, Virginia, a certain house and lot on Mason street in the town
of Smithfield, Virginia, the said property, or the proceeds therefrom
if sold, to be held by the said sanatorium as an endowment to be known
as the Samuel A. Riddick E ndowment, and the income used for the
general support of Catawba Sanatorium: and
Whereas, the property is now vacant and in need of repair, and the
State board of health deems it expedient to sell and convey the said
property and invest the proceeds; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
State board of health be, and it is hereby, authorized to sell for and on
behalf of Catawba Sanatorium the said property on the best obtain-
able terms, and to convey the same to the purchaser or purchasers
thereof in fee simple, by deed duly executed and acknowledged by the
president thereof on behalf of the board, after having been so auth-
orized by resolution adopted by the board. The proceeds of such sale
shall be re-invested and the income therefrom used for the general
support of Catawba Sanatorium, in accordance,with the terms of the
aforesaid devise.
