Chap. 193.—An ACT to enable the county school board of Hanover county to
request the board of supervisors of said county to lay district school levies in
the several magisterial districts for the purpose of providing funds for the
erection and equipment of school buildings; to enable said school board to
permit such funds to accumulate from year to year; and to enable said
county school board with the school board of the town of Ashland, to establish
and maintain in said town, or in Ashland district, in the vicinity of said town,
a public high school for the children of said town and district. [H B 462]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county school board of Hanover county be, and it is hereby, empow-
ered to include in its budget and to request the board of supervisors
of said county to fix and lay a special district school levy in the several
magisterial districts of said county, or in any one or more of them, in
order to provide funds for the erection and equipment of school build-
ings, in the said several magisterial districts, that may, from time to
time, be determined upon by said county school board; and it shall
be Jawful for the monies raised by such levies, or any portions thereof
to accumulate in the hands of the treasurer from year to year, until
such time or times as the said county school board may determine
to expend the same, or any portions thereof, for the purposes afore-
said. And the said school board may, with the school board of the
town of Ashland, establish and maintain in said town or in its vicinity
in Ashland district of said county, a joint public high school for the
children of said town and district, the said county school board using
towards the purchase, erection and equipment of such building the
aforementioned levies raised in Ashland district, or so much thereof
as it deem proper. Nothing herein contained shall be construed as
limiting or affecting the county and district school ievies that may be
raised under existing laws, but this act shall be construed as being in
addition to the existing purposes for which district school levies are
laid.
2. There being an emergency, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
