Chap. 179.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Pittsylvania county,
Virginia, to issue road bonds of Pittsylvania county in the aggregate amount
of $100,000, and to provide for the payment of the interest thereon and the
principal thereof at maturity. [S B 154]
Approved March 18, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Pittsylvania county be, and it is hereby, auth-
orized to issue road bonds of said county from time to time during
the calendar years nineteen hundred and twenty-six and nineteen
hundred and twenty-seven, in such amount or amounts as it may
determine, not exceeding in the aggregate one hundred thousand
dollars. Said bonds shall bear interest at such rate or rates as said
board of supervisors may determine not exceeding six per centum
per annum, payable semi-annually, and shall mature serially or other-
wise, at such time or times as said board may determine not exceed-
ing thirty years from their date. Said bonds may be either registered
bonds or coupon bonds with the privilege of registration, at the op-
tion of the holder, as to principal or as to both principal and interest,
and said board is hereby authorized and empowered to provide for
the registration of the bonds issued hereunder by such officer of said
county as it may designate for the purpose. Said bonds shall be
signed by the chairman and countersigned by the clerk of said board
of supervisors, under the seal thereof, and the coupons, if any, at-
tached to said bonds shall be executed with the fac-simile signatures
of said chairman and said clerk, and said bonds shall be payable at
such place or places within or without the State of Virginia as the
board of supervisors may determine.
2. The proceeds of said bonds shall be applied by the board of
supervisors in constructing county roads or highways in said county,
of such character and in such manner as said board of supervisors shall
determine.
3. While said bonds or any of them remain outstanding and un-
paid, there shall annually be assessed, levied and collected upon all
of the taxable property of Pittsylvania county, a tax sufficient to
provide for the payment of the interest thereon as the same shall
become due and payable, and for the payment of the principal thereof
at maturity, which said tax shall be assessed, levied and collected at
the same time and in the same manner as other county taxes are
assessed, levied and collected.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its + pase
sage.
