Chap. 122.—An ACT to abolish the State board of crop pest commissioners, to
transfer the investigation work of the said commission to the Virginia
agricultural experiment station, and to transfer the law enforcement duties
of the said commission to the department of agriculture, and to empower the
governor to apportion the appropriations made to the crop pest commission
to the department of agriculture and to the experiment station. [S B 152]
Approved March 9, 1926.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
State board of crop pest commissioners be, and the same is hereby,
abolished.
2. That the law-enforcing powers and duties imposed by law
upon the State board of crop pest commissioners are hereby trans-
ferred to and shall hereafter be exercised or performed by the com-
missioner of agriculture and immigration under the direction of the
board of agriculture and immigration. That the investigational func-
tions and duties be and hereby are transferred to the Virginia Agri-
cultural Experiment Station at Blacksburg.
3. The unexpended balance of any appropriation made to the
State board of crop pest commissioners is hereby transferred to the
board of agriculture and immigration and to the Virginia Agricultural
Experiment Station to be, along with the funds appropriated for the
biennium beginning March first, nineteen hundred and twenty-six,
apportioned by the president of the State board of agriculture and by
the president of the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College
and Polytechnic Institute with the approval of the governor, and may,
as far as necessary, be used and expended by the respective depart-
ments for the purposes stated in the appropriation.
4. This act shall be in force on and after July first, nineteen hun-
dred and twenty-six.
