Chap. 55.—An ACT authorizing the city of Fredericksburg to issue bonds to
redeem what are known as her high school bonds. [S B 243]

Whereas, The city of Fredericksburg has outstanding thirty-five
thousand dollars of her bonds known as high school bonds, which will
mature in November, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, having been
issued under the terms of an act approved March fifteenth, nineteen
hundred and eighteen, chapter two hundred and forty-seven, Acts of
nineteen hundred and eighteen, and desires to provide for funding the
same; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
mayor and common council of the city of Fredericksburg shall be and
they are hereby clothed with power to issue bonds of the said city to an
amount not to exceed thirty-five thousand dollars, bearing interest not
exceeding six per centum per annum and payable at such periods as the
said council may elect, said bonds to be registered or coupon bonds,
convertible as said council may elect. The said council shall use the
said bonds so issued or the money derived from the sale thereof, for the
purpose of redeeming the thirty-five thousand dollars of outstanding
high school bonds, which will mature in November, nineteen hundred
and twenty-four, and for no other purpcse; and may negotiate said
bonds at a price not lower than their par values tit
