Chap. 46.—An ACT to prohibit the taking, catching or killing of fish in the waters
of the Dan river or its tributaries or any lake or pond formed thereby or the
backwaters thereof in any manner, except angling, within Pittsylvania county
and the corporate limits of the city of Danville, during the spawning season,
from March first to June fifteenth, inclusive, and to provide penalties for the
violation hereof. {S B 135]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful to take, catch or kill fish in the waters of the Dan River or
its tributaries or any lake or pond formed thereby or the backwaters
thereof in any manner, except angling, for fish other than Bass within
Pittsylvania county and. the corporate limits of the city of Danville,
during the spawning season from March first to June fifteenth, inclu-
sive.
2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this act, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than twenty-five
dollars for each offense. .
3. It being desired tosrotect the fish of said waters, an emergency
is hereby declared to-exist and this act shall be in force from its passage.
