Chap. 440.—An ACT to require all officers collecting or receiving money to be ap-
plied on any execution or other legal process or claim to give notice thereof
within thirty days to the person entitled to receive the said money; and to
provide penalty for failure to give such notice. ( B 360)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be the duty of every officer collecting or receiving money to be applied
on any execution or other legal process, or on any claim, whether judg-
ment has been rendered thereon or not, to notify in writing by mail or
otherwise, within thirty days after such money is received, the person
entitled to receive the said money, if known. Any officer failing without
good cause to comply with this act within the time prescribed shall be
fined not less than five dollars nor more than twenty dollars for each
offense.
