Chap. 386.—An ACT to provide that when next a vacancy shall occur in the
office of register of the land office, from then henceforth the superintendent
of the State office building shall be superintendent of grounds and buildings,
and the secretary of the Commonwealth shall perform the duties now required
of the register of the land office. [SB 110]
Approved March 20, 1924.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That when
next there shall be a vacancy in the office of the register of the land office
and superintendent of grounds and buildings from thenceforth the
superintendent of the State office building shall ipso facto become super-
intendent of grounds and buildings and shall perform all duties required
of him by law as such, and the office of superintendent of the State
office building shall thereupon cease.
2. When the vacancy shall occur as herein provided, the office of
register of the land office shall be abolished, and the powers exercised
by, and the duties required of, him shall be performed by the secretary
of the Commonwealth.
3. The superintendent of grounds and buildings shall be appointed
by the governor and hold office during his pleasure.
