Chap. 383.—An ACT to appropriate certain sums of money from the Virginia
State treasury to the board of visitors of the Virginia Agricultural and Me-
chanical College and Polytechnic Institute on certain conditions. [S B 340]
Approved March 20, 1924.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
be, and is hereby, appropriated to the board of visitors of the Virginia
Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute, the sum
of one hundred thousand dollars payable at the close of the biennium
ending on the twenty-eighth day of February, nineteen hundred and
twenty-six, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated,
and after the amounts appropriated for the discharge of the existing
deficit in the treasury shall have been paid as provided in the general
appropriation act; and after the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand
dollars shall have been paid to the University of Virginia as provided by
an act entitled an act to appropriate the sum of two hundred and fifty
thousand dollars to the University of Virginia, provided the Univeisiiy
of Virginia can obtain elsewhere the sum of seven hundred and fiitv
thousand dollars the whole of such sum to be used for the purpose of
properly housing and developing and teaching the medical sciences, and
for hospital purposes; provided, however, that this appropriation of one
hundred thousand dollars shall not be available unless satisfactory evi-
dence has been furnished to the governor of Virginia that the sum of
two hundred thousand dollars in addition has been made available by
the alumni, friends and officials of the institution; and, provided, said
sums of money shall be used for the erection of a building, or buildings,
for the use of students, without further charge to the Commonwealth.
