1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That any
member of the board of supervisors of Washington county, while ac-
tually and necessarily engaged in the construction of roads in his dis-
trict, may be allowed a compensation of three dollars a day while so
engaged, but in no event shall the compensation of any member for such
services exceed three hundred dollars per annum. The compensation
allowed hereunder shall be paid out of such funds of the county or dis-
trict as the board of supervisors shall direct.
2. Anemergency existing, this act shall be in force from its passage.
