Chap. 26.—An ACT to authorize and empower the boards of supervisors of the
several counties and the councils or other governing bodies of the several
cities to enter into binding contracts for the maintenance of the poor. [S B 5}
Approved February 13, 1924.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
boards of supervisors of the several counties are hereby severally auth-
orized and empowered to enter into binding contracts with each other
for the maintenance of the poor upon sucn terms and in such places
as may be agreed upon by the two or more contracting boards.
2. The councils or other governing bodies of the several cities are
hereby authorized and empowered to enter into binding contracts with
each other for the maintenance of the poor upon such terms as may be
agreed upon by such councils or other governing bodies and such
agencies as they may agree upon. |
3. The board of supervisors of one or more of the several counties,
and the councils or other governing bodies of one or more of the several
cities are hereby authorized and empowered to enter into binding con-
tracts with each other for the maintenance of the poor of such counties
and cities upon such terms and in such places as may be agreed upon
by such boards of supervisors and such councils or other governing
bodies of such cities.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in foree from its pas-
sage.
