Chap. 135.—An ACT to establish highway construction camps. [S B 66]
Approved March 29, 1923.
Whereas, in the interest of public economy, it is desirable
to ascertain the actual construction cost of the various types of
highways built in this State; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the State highway commission, hereafter called the commission,
is authorized and directed to establish within this State road
construction camps, the number and locations to be determined
by the commission, provided that the work done by such camps
shall be on some portion of some State highway.
| 2. The said several camps shall build the types of road
designated by the commission under the direction of agents ap-
pointed by and responsible to the commission.
3. The mileage of roads built by said camps shall be de-
termined by the commission and accurate and detailed account
shall be kept of the cost on a yardage basis of building each
designated type of road, such information shall be available at
all times to the members of the general assembly.
4. The cost of such work shall be charged against any
funds available for the construction of the State highway
system.
