Chap. 132.—An ACT to guarantee to the public schools of the counties of
Page, and Greene the full school term stipulated in the teachers’ con-
tracts with the county school board. [S B 7]

Whereas, the public welfare demands that the public free
schools of the counties of Page and Greene be operated for the
full term, or terms, specified in the contracts which have been
entered into, or may hereafter be entered into, by and between
the county school boards of said counties and the teachers of the
said schools; therefore,
“1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in the event that the school funds at the disposal of the county
school boards of Page and Greene counties prove insufficient to
maintain the public free schools of said county including the
high schools thereof for the full term specified in the teachers’
contracts, and provided that the average salary paid teachers in
the said counties does not exceed the average salary paid in ad-
joining counties, the said county school boards be, and hereby
are authorized and empowered to issue warrants anticipating a
levy to be laid for the next succeeding calendar year, said war-
rants to bear interest from the time of their issuance to the
first day of December of: thé calendar year next succeeding.
2. The warrants herein authorized shall be issued for the
pay of teachers, wagoners, and supervisory school officials only.
When issued, said warrants shall be negotiable and shall be re-
garded as bonds and for the purpose of insuring their payment
the provisions of chapter sixty-one of the act of nineteen hun-
dred and twenty shall apply, and for this purpose only the
county shall constitute the school district.
3. All acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed insofar as the counties of Page and Greene are affected
thereby.
4. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from
the date of its passage.
