Chap. 81.—An ACT concerning the Virginia Home and Industrial School for
Girls. [H B 42)
Approved February 25, 1920.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Virginia Home and Industrial School for Girls, located in Chesterfielc
county, and acquired by the Commonwealth of Virginia under an ac
approved March twenty-first, nineteen hundred and fourteen, shall be
continued as a State institution. The said institution shall continue to be
governed by a board of directors of twelve members, appointed by the
governor, subject to confirmation by the senate. The directors in office
when this act takes effect shall continue therein until their respective
terms expire, and upon the expiration of the respective terms, succes-
sors shall be appointed for the term of six years. Vacancies on the
board occasioned by death, resignation or otherwise, shall be filled for
the unexpired term in the same manner as original appointments. The
said institution shall continue to be conducted for the purposes set
forth in the charter of the Virginia Home and Industrial School for
Girls; but the governor and the board of directors, acting jointly, are
authorized, whenever they deem it advisable, to sell and convey the
real and personal property, or so much thereof as may be considered
expedient, of the said institution, and invest the proceeds of sale ina
home to be used for the same purposes as the present school is con-
ducted and maintained.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
