Chap. 57.—An ACT to authorize the governor of Virginia to accept, in the
name of the Commonwealth, gifts of works of art. (H B 224]

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
governor of Virginia is hereby authorized to accept, in the name of
the Commonwealth of Virginia, gifts to the Commonwealth of works
of art, as defined in section five hundred and eighty-three of the Code
of Virginia. But no work of art shall be so accepted unless and
until the same shall have been first submitted to the art commission of
Virginia, or otherwise brought to the attention of said commission,
and by it deemed worthy of acceptance.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
