Chap. 442.—An ACT to amend the charter of the town of Bedford, being chap-
ter 165 of the acts of the assembly, 1912, approved March 12, 1912, so a:

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That chapte:
one hundred and sixty-five of the acts of the assembly of nineteer
hundred and twelve, approved March twelfth, nineteen hundred anc
twelve, being the charter of the town of Bedford, be, and the same is
amended by adding thereto the following:
The council of the town of Bedford, whenever in its opinion it i:
expedient and for the best interests of the town so to do, shall have
and is hereby given, full and complete power and authority, by resolu.
tion adopted by a majority of the members of the council at any regu.
lar or special session, to sell, by public or private sale, any land o:
lands without the corporate limits of the town, owned by the town
and not, in the opinion of the majority of the council, needed for muni-
cipal or corporate purposes; and upon the adoption of such resolution
and in accrdance with the terms thereof, it shall be the duty ofthe
mayor and the treasurer-clerk of said town to execute and deliver
by and on behalf of the town, a sufficient deed conveying the land o:
lands so sold to the purchaser or purchasers thereof; and all money
derived from such sale or sales shall be paid by the purchaser or pur-
chasers to the treasurer-clerk of said town for the benefit of said
town.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
