Chap. 41.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Fauquier county
to erect a county building to contain the offices of the treasurer and clerk,
and other county officers; and to contract a loan and issue bonds for said
purpose upon the approval of the judge of the circuit court for said county ;
and to levy an annual tax to pay interest on said bonds and to create a
sinking fund for their payment at maturity or before. {H B 48)

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be lawful for the board of supervisors of Fauquier county to
erect a county building to contain the offices of the clerk and treasurer
and other officers of said county, and to contract a loan on the
credit of said county of Fauquier for said purpose; provided that
the power shall not exist and the loan shall not be ‘contracted for
unless and until the action of the said board shall be approved by
the judge of the circuit court of said county. A copy of the resolu-
tion or order of said board of supervisors providing for the erection
of said building and the contracting of said loan shall be certified
by the clerk of said board to the judge of the said court, who may
act thereon either in term time or in vacation, and the approval or
disapproval of said judge of the circuit court shall be entered of
record, together with the certificate of the action of said board of
supervisors, on the records of the said circuit court, and a copy of
said entry shall thereupon be certified to said board of supervisors
by the clerk of the said circuit court. Upon such proceedings being
had, and the action of said board in providing for the erection of
such building and the contracting of such loan being approved by
the judge of the said circuit court, and not otherwise, the said board
of supervisors of Fauquier county is authorized’ and empowered to
issue the bonds of said county for such loan, either registered or
coupon, in denominations of one hundred dollars or mu!tiples there-
of. The said bonds shall be in such form as the board may pre-
scribe, shall be signed by the chairman of said board, countersigned
by the clerk thereof, and sealed with its seal; shall bear interest at
arate not exceeding six per centum per annum, payable semi-annual-
ly; and shall be payable not exceeding thirty years after date, and
redeemable after such time as the board may prescribe. If coupon
bonds are issued they shall be payable to bearer, shall be assignable
by delivery, and shall have coupons attached for the semi-annual
installments of interest. No bonds issued under the authority of
this act shall be sold at less than par.
2. The board of supervisors of said county of Fauquier shall
arrange for the payment of said bonds, at or before maturity, as
provided for the payment of bonds of the county as set forth in
section twenty-seven hundred and forty-one of the Code of Virginia
of nineteen hundred and nineteen.
