Chap. 39.—An ACT to authorize Amelia county to issue bonds for the purpose
of raising money to build a court-house. [H B 39]
Approved February 10, 1920.
1. Be it, and it is, hereby enacted by the general assembly of
Virginia:
The board of supervisors of Amelia county is hereby empowered
and authorized to issue the bonds of Amelia county to an amount
not exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars for the purpose of raising
money with which to build a new court-house for said county.
2. Said bonds shall be in the denomination of one. thousand
dollars each, registered as to principal and interest, bear interest at
the rate of six per centum per annum, payable semi-annually, be made
mayable at such place as said board shall direct, payable twenty-five
years after date of issue with right to said board to redeem the same,
or any thereof, at any interest date five years or more from date
of issue at par and accrued interest, and shall not be sold below
dar,
3. Said bonds shall be issued upon the order of the said board.
and be signed by the chairman thereof, and countersigned by the
clerk thereof.
4. A sinking fund of not less than four per centum of the amount
of said bonds issued shall be each year raised as a part of the general
county levy, and be set aside and kept as a distinct and separate fund
for the redemption of said bonds at their maturity, provided, how-
ever, that said fund may be used, in whole or in part, from time
to time for the redemption of said bonds as above provided for.
5. An emergency existing therefor, this act shall be in force
from the date of its passage.
