Chap. 379.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2039 of the Code of Vir-
ginia, authorizing the boards of supervisors of counties to appoint road
supervisors for magisterial districts, and to fix their compensation.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion twenty hundred and thirty-nine of the Code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Sec. 2039. The board of supervisors may appoint and employ, at
such compensation as they may fix, not exceeding five dollars per
day, a supervisor of roads for each of the several magisterial districts
of the county, or for any one or more of such districts, who shall have
the same duties with respect to the several districts as is provided in
this chapter for the county road superintendent, and when all the
districts of the county are thus provided with road supervisors, the
board of supervisors may, or may not, in their discretion, appoint
a county superintendent of roads for the entire county; provided,
however, this act shall not apply to any county which may now and
be hereafter permitted to operate under a special road law for said
county. )
